Bank Transfer?

Bhutan centralizes tourism payments for all tourists needing a visa.

In other words, all tourists to Bhutan, regardless of which tour operator they chose, need to fully pay their journey in advance to the Bhutan National Bank in order to receive their visa:

  • Prior to your trip to Bhutan, you will be asked to wire the full payment for your holiday to the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
  • You must wire the tour payment calculated by your tour operator as well as USD 40 (one-time visa fee) to the Bhutan National Bank through one of their certified international partners with the Bhutanese tour operator specified as the ultimate beneficiary.
  • Please email the bank wire receipt copy to the local Bhutanese tour operator.

How does that work?

After selecting your perfect itinerary with us, we will send you a quote for the total sum of your stay.  We will include the USD40$ mentioned above.

By experience, you may need to give a phone call to your financial institution to help you achieve the wire.  Why?  Because the Bhutan National Bank uses an intermediary bank: the Standard Chartered Bank LTD.  This procedure is often not offered "out of the box" on internet banking websites.

  • In simple terms, you need to wire the money to the Standard Chartered Bank LTD
    • In that transfer, you will indicate that the receiver is the Beneficiary Bank : Bhutan National Bank
      • And the Ultimate Beneficiary will be Bhutan Kurukulle Adventures.

We apologize in advance for this complexity but this process has been put in place by the government and there are no alternatives.  Once again, this applies to any tourist wishing to visit Bhutan and in need of a visa.  You can review this procedure here, on the Tourism Council of Bhutan website.

All Tour Payments should be made in US$ (Dollars), and all payments should be routed through the above mentioned procedures.
